Happy 2026 🇨🇦!! A new year, a new contest season. For 2026 we have two contests in the works for Canada.

Eastern Canadian Regionals (ECR) will be on Sunday March 22 in Toronto. This year's ECR will return to the same venue as last year in Palmerston Library near downtown. The top 3 eligible contestants will be seeded to the finals of Canadian Nationals!

Canadian Nationals will be on Sunday May 17 (Victoria Day long weekend) in Calgary. Western Canada will be making the rounds this year to host the biggest yo-yo event in Canada! Nationals will once again return to the same venue as 2024 in Central Library in downtown. Hope you will be there to witness the birth of this year's Canadian national champions who will be seeded to the World Yo-Yo Contest in August!!

Get ready for 2025!!! 🇨🇦

Starting this year off is the highly anticipated return of Eastern Canadian Regionals (ECR) in Toronto on May 18 Victoria Day long weekend. The last ECR was held in 2019, before the pandemic during which we held online contests instead. As in-person contests returned, memories of ECR became demand by serious competitors preparing for Nationals, as well as many locals who may not be able to travel. ECR 2025 will once again be held in-person at the familiar Palmerston Library Theatre in downtown Toronto.

As Canadian Nationals alternates between east and west every year, Nationals 2025 will be in eastern Canada again in Toronto! We have a new venue this year at the newly renovated York Woods Library Theatre, so the date is shifted to July 5 which is a bit later in the year compared to previous years. This should give everyone more time to prepare, so get ready for the highest level of competition ever in Canada!

It's 2024 contest season! We currently have two contests in the works this year.

Kicking things off is the Canadian Return Top Open (CRTO). It's an online contest by video submission. Each contestant has until February 25 to submit a freestyle video, which will be shown in a live stream event in the beginning of March, with live commentary by a panel of judges. After that it's Canadian Nationals on May 19! As our tradition of switching Canadian Nationals between east and west, this year it will be held in the Central Library in Downtown Calgary. Alberta has a long history of hosting Canadian Nationals and Western Canadian Regionals, and we're stoked to once again return to the pioneering province of today's Canadian competition scene!!
